Zines
Hills
Hills came to life with almost no planning—born from a spontaneous urge to share a memory from when I was 12, smoking a wooden cigarette. It felt like a moment worth reflecting on, something that could spark a connection with the reader. The zine is a compilation of childhood memories tied to a place that once existed in my hometown—essentially an open-air museum of communism.
The entire zine is printed using linocut, giving it a raw and unpolished feel. The pages are stained and few in number, mirroring the imperfect, fragmented nature of the stories they hold. Hills is rough around the edges, just like the memories it preserves.

About Stano Tma
Stano Tma is a multidisciplinary artist based in Prague, Czech Republic, whose practice spans tattooing, printmaking, and zine-making. Deeply interested in the permanence of language and the messages embedded within art, Stano Tma's journey into tattooing emerged from a desire to translate that sense of permanence from paper to skin. To them, both mediums represent a form of carving—leaving behind enduring marks that tell a story.
Their approach to tattooing is grounded in trust and fluidity, often feeling more like an uninhibited creative session rather than a structured process. Repetition plays a prominent role in their work, serving as both a visual and conceptual element, equally vital as the message itself.
Zine-making has become a vessel for self-discovery, revisiting memories while offering a way to share them with others. For Stano Tma, art is about embracing the moment—switching off the mind and simply having a good time while simultaneously crafting lasting works of communication.
